A few days ago, I had the pleasure to shoot for Upbra, an incredibly comfortable swimsuit/lingerie line for women looking for extra support (more to come about that)! However, immediately after I posted the shoot on Instagram, I started to do something that I've always forbid myself from doing. I started comparing my "beach body" to other women.
Body image and body shaming are two serious topics women (and men) have to face when the sun starts shinning a little more often, and the heat starts rising. I often get put off by the term "summer body," because it enables a "thin is better" mentality. Obviously we all want to put our best foot forward when it comes to personal branding and image. However, it's important to remember that there's no ideal body type.
Sure, we all have our insecurities. I certainly feel a tad insecure when I'm extra bloated. But it's incredibly important to remember that there's no perfect body. Wanting to be better and healthy is always great. But focus on being better than yourself. Not the next girl (or guy). Comparison is a terrible thing to dwell on. Be better for you! Not them. <3
